Once she stopped mid-stroke only to stand up abruptly and turn around in a circle counting the men on the walls around her. She met everyone’s gaze but mine. When she reached me, she looked down and turned thoughtful. My father raised his bow and she looked up at him before giving him a sweet, sad smile. I felt like cheering. She had finally noticed that we did not guard the castle from robbers. Then she went back to her painting as if nothing had changed at all. I admired her for her ability to look aloof. How could she be feeling so calm right now when she had noticed we were trained to kill her?

Sierra has lived a sheltered life in a castle with relatively little strife. All of that changes when she finally starts to notice odd things about where she lives and the people she lives with. If she wants to survive, she has got to act fast because there is a strange man in the house she has never heard of before.
